Apple Working on Laser-powered 3d Cameras For Future IPhones, Claims New Reports

Apple is reportedly developing '3D AR cameras' for its 2020 iPhones and iPads. That's according to Bloomberg, which says that the new camera system uses a laser scanner to create a 3D scan of the real world.

The report further claims that the new cameras will capture depth information up to about 15 feet from the device, which is much higher than the current dot-projection technology, which operates at distances of a mere 25 to 50 centimeters.

"The laser-powered 3D camera would enhance augmented reality on the iPhone, allowing for more accurate depth perception and placement of virtual objects", enabling the company to possibly incorporate more AR features into future iPhones and iPads, said the report.
